Randy Feenstra, U.S. Congressman representing Iowa’s 4th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on September 30, 2025, addressing ongoing government funding debates and recent economic developments in Iowa.
In a post made at 14:34 UTC, Feenstra stated, "Republicans voted to keep the government open for the American people. Democrats are recklessly threatening to shut down the government if they don't get to spend an additional $1.5 trillion in taxpayer dollars and give illegal immigrants free healthcare."
Later that day at 16:39 UTC, Feenstra highlighted new economic initiatives in Iowa, writing, "I’m glad to announce that, thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, communities in 12 counties in #IA04, and an additional 19 counties statewide, are newly designated as opportunity zones. Expanding OZs in Iowa helps grow our economy, invest in Main Street, and create good jobs!"
In another post at 19:41 UTC, Feenstra reiterated his position on the government funding dispute, stating, "Democrats are threatening to shut down the government to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants."
Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th district in Congress since 2021 and previously served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969, he continues to reside there and graduated from Dordt University with a BA in 1991.
