Randy Feenstra, U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 4th district and a member of Congress since 2021, used his social media platform on October 13 and 14, 2025, to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and recent international developments.
On October 13, Feenstra posted, "It’s now been 13 days since Democrats shut the government down. They will do whatever they can to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants." Later that day, he addressed foreign policy by writing, "President Trump has officially signed the peace deal that he negotiated in the Middle East. This historic agreement will save lives and promote security in the region. President Trump continues to deliver peace through strength."
The following day, Feenstra continued to discuss the shutdown, posting, "Democrats have kept the government shut down for two weeks now. They are so focused on giving illegal immigrants free healthcare that they don’t care how much they hurt families, farmers, and small businesses."
Feenstra has represented Iowa’s 4th congressional district since 2021, after previously serving in the Iowa Senate for more than a decade. Born in Hull, Iowa, in 1969, Feenstra has longstanding ties to the region and is an alumnus of Dordt University. He succeeded Steve King in Congress and is known for voicing his views on national policy and legislative developments.
