Joni Ernst, U.S. Senator representing Iowa, addressed a range of political topics in a series of posts on her social media account in mid-October 2025.

On October 14, 2025, Ernst commented on the ongoing government shutdown, stating, "The cost of the Schumer Shutdown hits $4 billion today. Taxpayers will continue to be on the hook for $400 million every workday of the Schumer Shutdown to pay 750,000 federal employees to NOT WORK." The term "Schumer Shutdown" refers to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, reflecting partisan debate over responsibility for the government closure. During previous shutdowns, federal employees have often been furloughed or required to work without pay, leading to significant costs and disruptions in government services.

Later that day, Ernst acknowledged conservative activist Charlie Kirk, writing, "Charlie Kirk inspired a generation of young conservative leaders across America and his impact is only growing. You could disagree with him. In fact, he invited you to. This is his legacy. Free minds and free speech." Kirk is known for founding Turning Point USA, an organization that seeks to promote conservative values among young people.

On October 15, 2025, Ernst addressed the issue of American hostages held by Hamas, stating, "After 738 days, President Trump delivered the remaining living hostages from Iran-backed Hamas and reunited them with their families and loved ones. This is what American leadership looks like. I will keep fighting until every remaining hostage, including Americans Omer Neutra". Hostage situations involving Hamas have been a point of contention in U.S. foreign policy, with past administrations working through diplomatic channels to secure releases.

Senator Ernst's posts reflect ongoing debates over government spending during shutdowns, recognition of conservative figures' influence, and U.S. foreign policy regarding hostages.
