Randy Feenstra, U.S. Congressman representing Iowa’s 4th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on his social media account in October 2025, criticizing Democrats for their actions regarding the federal government shutdown and healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
On October 20, 2025, Feenstra wrote, "In September, Republicans did our job & voted to keep the government open. Unfortunately, Democrats shut the government down to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants. I’m glad to join forces with my Iowa colleagues demanding that Senator Schumer end the Democrat shutdown."
Later that day, he added, "Democrats have now voted 12 times to shut the government down. They will stop at nothing to give illegal immigrants free healthcare."
On October 21, 2025, Feenstra continued his criticism by stating, "Democrats have kept the government shut down for 21 days to appease the Far Left. Liberals want to spend $1.5 trillion and make our debt crisis even worse."
Feenstra’s remarks reflect ongoing partisan disputes over government funding and immigration policy. He is known for his conservative stance on fiscal issues and immigration. Prior to his election to Congress in 2021—succeeding Steve King—Feenstra served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021. Born in Hull, Iowa in 1969, Feenstra is a graduate of Dordt University.
