Sioux City Fire Rescue received an award from the American Heart Association for its improvement measures regarding patients having severe heart attacks, a news release stated.
The city is one of four others in the state to receive the Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Plus Award.
“Currently both hospitals and Sioux City Fire Rescue are Gold Standard providers for heart attack care, which should be a relief to those who need us,” EMS Training Officer Terry Ragaller said in the news release. “This was accomplished due to dedication, hard work and a desire to always improve the medical care from our EMTs and paramedics. We are pleased to be recognized for our dedication and achievements in emergency medical care efforts through Mission: Lifeline."
The initiative provides tools and training, as well as resources, to help support the protocols for heart attack care, the news release states. Gold Plus is the highest level for the award, the news release states.
