Woodbury County has received help with funding the general election this year from the Center for Tech and Civic Life.
The Center for Tech and Civic Life has donated over $155,000 to the county to help with the election, Sioux Land News reported. The money will be used to plan and implement a "safe and secure" election on Nov. 3.
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the funds were approved to be accepted by supervisors during a meeting.
"I'm very excited that we were made aware of this grant through the secretary of state's office and it's one that's going to help us get through the general election in pretty good financial condition," County Auditor Pat Gill told Sioux Land News.
The county said it will be using the funds to help the increasing costs of setting up polling stations and staffing them. These costs have been increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sioux Land News reported. The county will also be buying person protective equipment for poll station workers.
