City of Sioux City recently issued the following announcement.
Sioux City residents are encouraged to sign up to receive CodeRED emergency alerts to learn about critical and timely information happening in the community. The CodeRED system provides city staff the ability to quickly deliver messages to individuals in targeted areas or the entire city via text, email or phone. Since January 2020, the City of Sioux City has utilized the CodeRED platform to send emergency alerts related to snow emergencies, boil water warnings and water main breaks to communicate critical information with citizens. An option to receive updates regarding public transit delays and garbage and recycling delays is also available.
The easiest way to enroll for CodeRED notifications is from a mobile phone. Residents can text AlertSiouxCity to 99411 to receive a direct link to Sioux City’s Community Notification Enrollment (CNE) page. Residents may also sign up to receive notifications to their email or home phone by visiting www.sioux-city.org/alerts. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code and primary phone number. Additional phone numbers and email addresses can be entered as well. CodeRED provides an easy and secure method for inputting information and the data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes.
