The City of Sioux City is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water as drought conditions persist.
Due to the moderate to severe drought conditions caused by lack of mountain snowpack, plains snowpack, and lower than normal precipitation, Sioux City is experiencing low water levels in it’s raw water supply wells.
As drought conditions continue into the summer months, residents are encouraged to be more aware of water use in and around the home. Suggested water conservation methods include: turning off the faucet while brushing teeth, adjusting washing machines and dishwashers from a full cycle to a short cycle, taking shorter showers rather than baths, and reducing the watering of lawns.
Active water conservation can reduce the need for the City to implement further steps outlined in the City’s Water Conservation Plan. The full plan is available on the City’s website at www.sioux-city.org/WaterConservation or available upon request by calling the Sioux City Water Treatment Plant at 712-279-6150.
