Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The legislation aims to prevent biological males from participating in women's sports.
U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, supported the bill. He expressed concerns about safety and fairness in women's sports and spaces.
"In Iowa, it is common sense that men compete against men and women compete against women in sports," stated Rep. Feenstra. He criticized what he described as efforts by "extreme liberals in Washington" to allow biological males to compete against females and share facilities with them.
Rep. Feenstra emphasized his personal connection to the issue as a father of two daughters, stating, "Keeping women and girls safe in sports and at school is very important to me." He added that this was why he voted for the legislation.
