Joni Ernst, U.S. Senator from Iowa, posted a series of messages on October 7, 2025, reflecting on the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks by Hamas and commenting on U.S. political dynamics.

In her first post at 15:05 UTC, Ernst called for remembrance of those affected by the attacks: "On the second anniversary of the horrific Oct. 7 attacks by Iran-backed Hamas, join me in remembering the victims of this barbaric act of terrorism, including Americans. The attack was designed to sow chaos in the region, but President Trump's leadership is paving a way to".

Later that day at 15:58 UTC, she commented on domestic politics and perceptions of former President Donald Trump’s actions: "When President Trump moves a muscle, Democrats wail that it’s a threat to democracy. The real threat to democracy is the Democrat deep state."

At 16:46 UTC, Ernst highlighted her role in congressional responses to the anniversary: "On the solemn two-year anniversary of the Oct. 7th attacks that killed dozens of Americans, I was honored to lead my colleagues in condemning Iran-backed Hamas’ horrific attack that took American lives. "

The October 7 attacks referenced by Ernst occurred in 2023 when Hamas launched an assault against Israel resulting in significant casualties and drawing international condemnation. Multiple Americans were among those killed or taken hostage during these events.

Senator Joni Ernst has previously been vocal about national security issues and U.S.-Israel relations during her tenure representing Iowa in Congress.
