Health care professionals have been consumed by COVID-19 preparations and in some cases depending on the state, have been inundated with COVID-19 patients, but there are other people who have not contracted the virus that still need medical assistance.
At Siouxland Community Health Center, patients now have access to telehealth office visits, according to Siouxland Proud.
During a telehealth office visit, a patient will receive long-distance clinical health care via phone or video-conferencing, according to Health IT.
The patient will be able to send their doctor pictures or videos of any visible ailments, according to Health IT.
Telehealth will also help the hospital maintain their personal protection equipment, according to the Siouxland Proud.
Dr. Tyler Wendel of Siouxland Community Health Center told Siouxland Proud, "We can do refills and it allows us to stay in touch with patients, without them coming in."
Wendel said telehealth allows patients to receive care without being exposed to anything at the hospital and it helps keep hospital staff safe, according to the Siouxland Proud.
