U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra has initiated a request for the inclusion of runway and ramp projects at the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City into the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP). The letter, directed to Major General Duke Pirak, Acting Director of the Air National Guard, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, was supported by House and Senate members from Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
"The 185th Air Refueling Wing is critical to our economy, our region, and our national security. Nearly 900 airmen work around the clock to support our military and ensure that the KC-135 refueling tankers housed at the base operate properly," said Rep. Feenstra. He emphasized the importance of these projects for improving efficiency and safety in operations involving KC-135s.
Feenstra stated his commitment alongside colleagues from Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota to secure funding through completion by including these projects in FYDP. The full content of Feenstra's letter can be accessed online.
