U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra announced that his office assisted Nor-Am Cold Storage in overcoming bureaucratic challenges to gain approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. This approval allows the company to export refrigerated products, including meat from Iowa, to the European Union.

The Cherokee facility of Nor-Am Cold Storage is a significant contributor to Northwest Iowa's economy, providing over fifty jobs.

"I am so glad that my office could help Nor-Am Cold Storage – an incredible family-owned business – cut through government red tape to ensure that their customers could export refrigerated goods and products – including Iowa-made meat – to the European Union," said Rep. Feenstra. "This approval from USDA will protect more than fifty good-paying jobs in Cherokee and ensure that goods like beef, pork, and poultry can be exported."

Feenstra also highlighted his efforts at the federal level with his FRIDGE Act included in the Farm Bill. The act aims to support businesses by developing new refrigeration infrastructure domestically and internationally.

Scott Albers, President of Nor-Am Cold Storage, expressed gratitude for Feenstra's assistance: "I thank Congressman Feenstra and his team for helping us receive the approval we needed to ensure we could export product."

Sara Stickler, President and CEO of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), praised the collaboration between industry, Congress, and agencies: "The Global Cold Chain Alliance appreciates Congressman Feenstra’s working with USDA to help GCCA member Nor-AM Cold Storage secure approval to export to Europe."
